More and more cities and counties all over the country have been adopting the use of
standardized refuse bins for automated residential curbside trash pick-up and recycling programs.
Yet many times, the trash collection schedule is not frequent enough, or is reduced to once a week due to budget constraints.
Because the containers are not big enough for the volume of trash accumulated in a normal week, this often results in trash spilling over the containers onto the ground, creating a mess which the sanitation workers don't pick up. This is especially the case during the holidays or whenever there's a larger volume of trash.
The usual solution is to try to compact the trash by pushing it down with one's hands, or using a 2x4 that's lying around the yard. Or even checking with neighbors to see if they have extra room in their containers. But these techniques don't really work.
The Trash WhackerTM
The Trash WhackerTM is a manual hand tool that compacts regular trash and green garden waste. Utilizing the principles of gravity and design features, it allows a person to squeeze up to 40% to 50% more trash into these containers with a minimal amount of effort.
The actual time it takes to compact the garbage is approx 10-15 seconds. Dropping the tool repeatedly for four to six times on top of the garbage in the container achieves remarkable compaction! Just using it two to three times per week doubles the capacity of these refuse containers.
