The Problem To Be Solved :

Due to nationwide news coverage of carjackings, muggings, rapes, and kidnappings in parking lots, most people are aware of the potential dangers and take precautions while walking to their vehicle. Many people now walk to towards their car with keys in hand, ready to open the car door immediately upon arrival. Most people are also more alert to their surroundings, watching for suspicious individuals as they walk to their car.

However, most people aren't aware of just how vulnerable they are when they open the trunk of their car (or hatchback), lean in, and put their packages inside. In those few minutes, their visibility is hampered by the trunk hood, and being busy putting away the packages, people lose track of who might be coming up behind them. Without the ability to see what's behind them, they are unable to take any action to prevent a crime from happening.

This is especially the case when a mother leaves her small baby sitting in the shopping cart, while she puts away the groceries in the trunk. While she's busy, and feeling at ease because her child is right there next to her in the cart, the baby is vulnerable to any stranger that approaches from behind the mother's back.

Tattles Safety Mirror Features and Benefits

The Tattles Safety Mirror is a specially designed rear view mirror for the automobile that is placed at either a single location, or at multiple points inside the trunk of a car or the hatchback area of a van or SUV. The Tattles Safety Mirror enables car owners to see what's going on behind their backs and to have an ongoing view of the surroundings behind them while they're putting groceries or packages inside the trunk.

Similar to a side view mirror, the mirror is set within a stationary plastic housing which, depending on the vehicle, is mounted inside the car with either magnets, velcro, glue, or screws. The mirror floats within the plastic housing so it can be easily adjusted and angled within the housing. It can also be set to one position by using the tightening screw.

The mirror for the car application is the size of a large rear view mirror, while the mirror for a van or SUV application is two mirrors approximately half the size of a rear view mirror.
