The Problem To Be Solved:

For people undergoing physical rehabilitation in hospitals and convalescent homes, or the elderly in care centers, walking aids are normally utilized during training to help them learn to walk again and/or to help regularly exercise their body.

However, traditional crutches are very difficult and awkward to learn to use. The user must not only carry his/her full body weight, but also continually balance his/her body while moving forward with the crutches.

Crutches leave little room for error, requiring courage due to the ever-present risk that the user could fall. Thus, they are slow, exhausting and shaky at best. Other standard walking aids are designed only as a frontal support for the user to lean on, and have many of the same problems.

AraknoWalker: Unique Features & Benefits:

The AraknoWalker is a complete system that resembles crutches, but is designed with roll balls and built-in safeguards with an automatic braking mechanism to provide protection and support against falling from all angles. This enables the user to walk as normally as possible without the fear and danger of getting hurt.

The AraknoWalker features a body harness that wraps around the waist area with straps underneath the armpits and around the upper thighs. When walking, the AraknoWalker's legs roll freely, enabling the user to walk properly.

However, if the user slips, slumps, or loses his/her balance, the weight of the body on the harness puts pressure on the AraknoWalker system, which automatically engages the brake cone over the roll-balls to immediately stop the AraknoWalker.

Once the person regains their balance and starts walking again, the release of the body weight from the harness allows the AraknoWalker to roll freely again.

For hospitals, rehabilitation and convalescent homes, and care centers for the elderly, the AraknoWalker helps the patients walk on their own, without the anxiety of stumbling or direct assistance by a therapist.

The AraknoWalker can be made with lightweight aluminum material and the height is adjustable. When not in use, the AraknoWalker is compact and folds flat.
